(Miami, FL October 26, 2015) – The Mayor’s International Council welcomes Turkish Airlines in the inauguration of their service from the City of Miami to its hub in Istanbul beginning October 25. The new service will significantly enhance the connectivity to the world for South Floridians allowing them one-stop access to over 270 destinations, including emerging markets in Europe and Asia.
Turkish Airlines is a 4-star airline with a fleet of 296 (passenger and cargo) aircraft flying to 277 destinations worldwide with 229 international and 48 domestic. It has been recognized in numerous ways, such as “Europe’s Best Airline”, “Best Airline in Southern Europe”, and “Best Economy Catering Service”, to name a few.
In order to celebrate and highlight this new service, Turkish Airlines pursues to build the tallest sandcastle worldwide. It will require 1,800 tons of sand with an estimated date of completion being October 24 and it is expected to remain standing for 3 weeks or more after its completion.
